Kate and I took off from San Francisco on Thursday morning with no set plans as to where we were going to sleep for the night. We had the pipe dream of making it all the way to Portland, Oregon but did not know if we could handle driving that far (about 630 miles!). Sunday, July 15th

We took a "fast" ferry to Athens from Paros that was supposed to take 3.5 hours, as opposed to the slow ferry, that took 4.5 hours. In actuality, the fast ferry took almost 5 hours counting the delay at the beginning. It was ridiculously windy so the seas were high and the ferry, which was a monstorously large contraption, had to take it slow. We took a long bus from Istanbul, Turkey to Alexandroupolis, Greece in the morning. We met a shuttle bus that took us to the Otogar (bus station) at 8 am and took two shuttles before we actually got on our bus which left at 10 am.
